Hi everybody,

Flying for a vacation to Asia has been a dream of mine for quite a while. So here I am, just a couple of days ago I bought my lessno.com multi-city airplane ticket from London to Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta. I`m so excited about the trip, but I would like to ask you smth I`m concerned about…I know it may sound silly but do you think I should take some precautions regarding the bird flu, or is it just big talk? And then putting that aside, I will greatly apresiate any propositions for places with traditional cuisine (especially) in Kuala Lumpur).

Thanks in advance!

bird flu is all around ..im going to europe tomorrow and theres cases all over the joint!
but it wont stop me travelling yet
so just be sensible
like, id avoid markets with poultry ..avoid bird droppings if u can ( check ur shoes b4 u go back to accommodation ) …leave the eggs alone …in case they arent cooked properly ..dont touch feathers
well cooked chicken is fine…but i guess u can avoid it altogether, if u had to

above all, wash ur hands ..rub them for at least 15 seconds and DRY them well…wet hands can still harbour bacteria which will multiply rapidly in the humidity of asia..u can also carry that hand sanitiser that doesnt need water

id still go to asia unless they had a specific warning ( and im a very cautious person..confident but like to be cautious)
a friend of mine let her 20 yr old daughter go to vietnam a couple of months ago ..and was worried but there was no problem…
just take the precautions u can and forget about the paranoia for a while!
have fun and enjoy the beautiful scenery and wonderful shopping…remember u can usually just walk in and get a good rate for a hotel..if u book online they sometimes overcharge u…do ur research

do check the dept of foreign affairs b4 u go… after the bali bombings where aussies were targeted u just have to be a little bit more cautious…register with the dept..leave all ur details etc…i do that when i travel…
jakarta should be ok..hasnt been on the restricted travel list as far as i know

I was just there and it is possibly one of the safest cities now. No need to be concerned in KL.

Indonesia I am not sure.

Hi not sure about bird flu take the precautions other people have recommended, but also for a place not to be missed in KL visit the new aquarium, it is really something to see… and of course the shopping is the best and very cheap, sales everywhere, at least when I was there last December.
