Popular and inexpensive way into Greece?
Mon, 02/05/2007 - 14:35
My wife and I will be in Europe from March 7th-May9th. We plan on visiting Greece near the end of our trip. What is the most popular way into Greece also keeping it inexpensive. The train takes so long since the furthest East we will go is Prague. The ferry from Italy is also a long painful ride from what I have read. Is there ever any inexpensive flights out of certain cities? and if so what one are the most popular?
Thanks…

There are cheap flight hops to Greece from many places: www.whichbudget.com
Flying is probably the best option, but if you can’t find flights that work with your plans, the ferry isn’t necessarily all that long and painful. First, it’s overnight, so you might not actually waste that much time. Secondly, much of the pain can be avoided by booking a cabin.
Check out Don’s link.
The ferry is overnight, but as Oldlady says, if you book a cabin it is not painful—actually quite pleasant. We ferried from Venice to Corfu and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Great link – thanks a ton. I found tons of cheap flights that I never knew existed.
If we were to take the Venice to Corfu ferry, what would be the best way (cheapest way) to get to Athens so we could get a cheap flight to Rome?
You might find a cheap flight on Aegean airlines from Corfu to Athens. If you can’t find it cheaper you can use a $99 Europebyair.com flight pass on this route.
