Portugal in May

Hello! We plan a trip to Portugal ( Lisbon to north ) with a rented car in the middle of May. Any advice about places, where to stay except Lisbon, where to eat, etc, will welcome. thanks – David
Hey David!
Well, don´t know where to start
First of all, Lisbon: In the city you definitely should have seen the “Castelo de San Jorge” ( a big castle at the top of lisbon- amazing view!) and the “Praça do Comércio” (a big place close to the sea, right next to a mail shopping street). But if you just walk uphill, you will see a lot old, fascination buildings. Just stumble around and you will discover hidden places
Trough Lisbon, there is driving the old, yellow tram (line 28) , which i recommend you to drive with!
If you look to the mighty river which floods through lisbon, you will notice the famous red bridge and the Jesus- Statue, which both are impressing. Heading into the bridge´s direction (and a bit further) you will reach an old, traditional quarter called “Belem”. After visiting a monument and a fortress, walk back to the street, where you will find nice cafes, where you can buy one of the most delicious desserts ever: the “Pasteis de Belem“ and a galao (coffee with milk)
As you can see.. it´s a lot!
But if you want to see more, i recommend you to visit Porto as well.
Its also on the westcoast, and a really nice city!
A lot of old, impressing cathedrals are there and again: just walk around and you will discover the city and its atmosphere.
We stayed in Porto in a nice holiday house here
which was located quite central and cheap, which i also can recommend to you.
And an other advice: you must try the famous Port-wine! It´s a sweet, strong wine (and really dangerous for your head), but worth trying!
From Porto you can reach the sea and go (or just watch) surfing, if you like to try it

Close to Lisboa is Sintra, a tiny, but really cute city (i would call it village, but its a city) where you can visit an impressing old castle.
(and with amazing parties)
If you drive more northern, you will reach Coimbra, a lively student´s city, also worth visiting
