Is this possible on the europass??
Thu, 06/11/2009 - 20:26
Hello,
My friend and I just bought out plane tickets for a 24 day trip to Europe. We land in Mardid on 7/16 and fly back home on 8/7 from Paris. Our teneitive intinerary is as follows;
Madrid 3 days
Ibiza 2 days
Barcelona 3 days
Marselle, France 2 days
Nice 2 days
Milan 2 days
Munich 3 days
Frankfurt 2 days
Amsterdam 2 days
Paris 3 days
We are planning on getting the 15 day euro pass and would like to get some advise on if this looks like a feseable plan. The train looks like the best option for our travels. We want to see as much as possible and want to get the expirence of each city. Any suggestions about time spent in cities or cities to bypass will be greatly appreciated. I am a little overwhelmed with all the possiblities but am very excited to visit these beautiful places. Any other planning or travel conseiderations please let me know
Thanks in advance!!

Which 15 day eurail pass are you planning on? This won’t work on a 15 consecutive day pass and you really only need a 10 day as opposed to 15 day flexipass. Your best bet is probably a 4 country, 8 day select pass for Spain, France, Germany and Benelux and to buy point to point tickets for the small portion of your trip that’s in Italy. A 5 country, 10 day select pass adding Italy would also work, but might not be worth the extra money.
What are your plans for Milan and Marseilles? IMO, neither is a great tourist destination, although Milan is worth a day if it’s on your way to somewhere else. Milan is a big, busy, expensive business center. Marseilles is one of the worlds busiest freight ports.
Yeah it’s possible to do that trip. It looks to be a little too much for some peoples tastes. Like oldlady said, it might be good for you to cut out one or two places so that you can enjoy a city or two a little bit longer. You never know what you’re gonna like. I thought I was going to just have a one day trip to Bruges on my way to Amsterdam, and I ended up staying for 4 days. I’m glad that I had a few days extra that I could spend wherever I wanted, and it was really worth it.
Frankfurt, Munich, Prague, Bruges, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, London
London, Paris, Bruges, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Prague, Munich
Madrid, Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, Gibraltar, Granada, Barcelona, Paris
Nottingham, Birmingham, Munich, Stuttgart, Bruges, Dublin, Copenhagen, Tallinn, London

Thank you for your comments.
we were looking at getting a flexipass as it would allow us to travel on non consercutive days just as you said oldlady. I will have to look at the individual train tickets to italy. I will cut out marseilles and scale back milan to 1 day to leave those extra days for possible day trips into italy from nice like comish said or for other stops we like. does that sound like a better plan?
We weren’t going to do much in Milan other than stop by and check it out on our way to Germany. But if there are better place to stop and see along the way please let me know. I appreciate all the help
Thanks!!
