protecting eurail ticket
Thu, 05/24/2007 - 19:52
i’ve heard it’s just a piece of paper. should i take any precautions w/ it?

I guess you should. You paid a good sum of money for it.

apologies for the ambiguous nature of my original question. allow me to rephrase:
what kind of precautions can i take with it?
I’m sort of puzzled by your question. Put it in plastic, put it in your concealed moneybelt, don’t get it wet, anything else?
you have got to be kidding me
the average IQ level has certainly dropped around here lately
just saying.. it’s a piece of flimsy paper from what i heard. i’m assuming you can’t laminate it b/c it gets stamped (right?), plus i’m sure some a-holes would bring up authenticity issues if you did that. unless the cheap quality of this ticket is greatly exaggerated, this has to be a concern.
whenever i bring up my iq score (i’ve had it tested 3 times) people get upset—probably b/c i’m usually a jerk about it—but i’ll say it’s somewhere above mensa’s membership requirement.
Treat it the same way you would an airline ticket. Best not to tamper with it and keep it with you at all times. A moneybelt is the best option. I’ve never put it in plastic – but it does get a bit damp (ick) on hot days.
Your railpass can get pretty ratty, but the flimsy paper pass actually has a somewhat sturdier cover — kind of like an airline ticket wallet.
thanks… expect mine in the mail shortly. will prob just keep it in a money belt like suggested (although i’m not too keen on having a piece of cloth strapped around me for 3 weeks)
I’d get one of those slip things for it. Ditto with your passport. I’m doing both this year, cuz last year my passport got drenched from my sweaty gut (hehe) and got kinda warped…
