This may seem like a stupid question, but are cartridges for butane curling irons allowed on planes? I seem to remember one airline not allowing me to have one in my carry-on baggage on a flight many years ago. I noticed that lighters were listed on the airline’s list of items not allowed in either the hold or the cabin. But a butane cartridge isn’t exactly the same. Anyone ever run into a problem with this?

Note for all of you self appointed backpack police: Don’t flame me for taking a curling iron; if I choose to carry it around, it’s no concern of yours . . .
