Quick question - SFO or LAX?
Tue, 04/02/2013 - 18:53
In order reduce the number of flight searches, I am wondering if the community here has a general feel for if departing from or arriving to SFO or LAX produces more cheap tickets?
And if you think it is worth taking the risk of only conducting flight searches on one or the other airports because it is obviously better from one or the other
I am leaving from SFO with $2000 for 60 days

There’s not a straight-forward answer because this will depend on route and when you’re looking, but I would give a slight edge to LAX. I check both frequently and find more of the surprisingly low, and short-lived, fares from LAX. That side, except in cases where you find an airline that is lower than everyone else on a particular route the differences usually aren’t that great.
cool!
thanks

I agree with augustin — LAX probably a slight edge on some routes, but check both if you can.
See kayak.com/explore and play with both airports as departures to see differences to Europe for the same month.
See also Skyscanner.com and you can enter from SFO to UK, or DE, or CH for example, choose a month, and then open a new tab and do the same with LAX.
To save yourself a lot of checking, sign up for email alerts on sale routes from both airports. Airfarewatchdog and Farecompare have good sale alert services.
