"Must see" places??
Sun, 03/09/2014 - 10:48
Hi,
I will be backpacking through Europe for the first time in early April 2014 to early May 2014. My friends and I are in our mid-twenties and plan to visit Rome, Venice, Innsbruck, Munich, Prague and (Budapest or Amsterdam).
I wanted to ask about the “must see places” in either of these places, as we are only staying for a month (about 2-4days per city), and will not be able to experience everything in the limited amount of time. Any recommendations and/or suggestions? (We are looking for historical and scenic adventures/ experiences during the day and more of bar/partying activities at night).
Thanks in advance!
I am leaving from Toronto with $3500 for 23 days

“Must sees” are pretty individual. A few of my personal favorites…
Rome:
A day for Pagan Rome — Coliseum, a couple of the ancient forums, at least one museum, Palatine hill and Circus Maximus if you have time
A day for Christian Rome — St Peters (a definite must see, even if you’re not “into” churches), Vatican Museums (can be a very long slog, but the only way you’ll see the Sistine Chapel if you don’t take a tour), Castle St. Angelo (at least outside), Parthenon (also possible on “pagan day’ but another IMO, must see)
Additional days — Day trip to Pompeii/Herculaneum (doable in April — short days make it difficult in winter), Day trip to Neptune/Anzio (WWII), Day trip to Tivoli (Hadrian’s Villa and Villa d’Este are fascinating) or a day to just wander around, view the numerous fountains, Victor Immanuel monument, get a feel for Rome and visit other sights that are interesting to you.
Venice — a day in San Marco — Cathedral, bell tower, Doge’s museum, people watching. A day to wander around (getting lost at least three times) and catch one or two of the hundreds on tiny museums, palaces and churches that each house one treasure that was featured in your art history text book. Take the vaporetto (water bus) from the train station.
Munich — Dachau is a Munich suburb. Take the S-bahn and bus to spend 1/2 day at the concentration camp.
Prague — castle and old town. A least a couple of days to wander around and just enjoy a wonderful city.
Budapest — another place to mostly just wander around and enjoy for a couple of day
Amsterdam — Ann Frank House, Rembrandt museum, Westerkirk, a stroll through the Red Light District, a canal boat ride and at least a day to just wander around and café or bar hop.
I am sharing with you some Must See attraction places in given destinations by you. Hope it will help you to get some tips or idea where would you go for travel.

In Prague, it is really worth going to see Karlštejn Castle, it cca 30 minutes by train from Prague (railway station Smíchovské nádraží). Karlštejn is one of the most important see sights in the Czech republic
Brno, Bratislava, Győr, Vienna, Hallstatt, Salzburg, Munich
these are also some good places in Rome
Ostia Antica
The Colosseum

That was incredible. cities in just one tour. 2-4 days in not enough I thought. I suggest you to make several tour than just one big tour.

Tourist places in Pondicherry
Paris is filled with museums (like the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay), monuments (like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe) and churches (like the Sacré-Coeur and Notre Dame). Still, save some time for drawn-out meals and relaxing at sidewalk cafes.
