If you’re American, are you concerned that your European itinerary will compromise your personal safety in light of the Moslem terrorists, renegade Serbs, and Neo-nazis who may cross your path and see you as a target?
If so, you might consider reallocating your worries. Chances are, wherever you’re headed this summer, you’ll probably be someplace far less dangerous to your health than where you came from. Yesterday’s killings at a Colorado high school once again highlight our American obsession with guns and America’s complete failure to provide for the individual’s rights to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Even school is a war zone. Like the Kosovars, we live under a merciless, murderous tyrant disguised as our "right to bear arms." Unless we depose this figurehead — this fascination with weapons — coming home from Europe will always be far scarier than going there.
Yes, there are nuts everywhere, but thanks to the laws across the pond, the European nuts don’t have easy access to paramilitary hardware. I’d stay in Europe this summer if I could — permanently. But like most of you, I have to cme back. The challenge is to learn from Europe and do something about our gun problem. Forget about Hussein. Let’s do something about the NRA and its weapons of mass destruction right here in our own backyard. Maybe coming home from Europe won’t be so scary for future generations of Eurotrippers.
