I recently changed my trip itinerary to start in Paris, then go south by train to Spain and Portugal for ~3 weeks. I just bought a Let’s Go guidebook for Spain and Portugal, and it says that buying a railpass for those two countries is kinda unnecessary since their train fare is usually so inexpensive, anyway. Is this true? My friend and I would be buying the Eurail Flexipass (for France, Spain, and Portugal) but we would gladly do without it if we could save money. We don’t plan on taking many short train trips: we’re mostly going to the major cities (Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla) that are pretty spread out. So is a railpass worth it?
