Recommended Hostels?
Mon, 06/01/2009 - 01:12
My best friend and I are traveling around Europe this summer and I was wondering if anyone could recommend good hostels in the countries that we’re going to. We are looking for places in the city near bars, clubs, restaurants, and cafes.
We will be visiting:
Berlin
Barcelona
Paris
Amsterdam
Brussels
London
Dublin
Thanks!
I am leaving from JFK with $3000 for 28 days

Portsmouth, London, Dublin, Brussels, Amsterdam
I second Swill on Kabul in Barcelona. There’s a great hostel in Berlin called The Circus Hostel. In Paris I stayed at a place called Le Village which was fine but not great. Paris doesn’t have many hostels that are highly rated. In London it was the Astor Museum Hostel for me. I enjoyed meeting the people there. A little separated from stuff but I enjoy walking so it was no big deal. Literally across the street from the British Museum which was awesome.
The Generator is a pretty good party hostel in the centre of London. Or Try St Christophers near the borough markets/London bridge.

any ideas for a hostel in belgium?
Portsmouth, London, Dublin, Brussels, Amsterdam
Any more suggestions?

Ive just booked a hostel for the end of august in Amsterdam called Hans Brinkers…it was the cheapest in a good location..but obviously ive not stayed there yet!! For the 1st two nights in amsterdam we are going to camp at a site near by that has buses running in every 30min, hopefully save a few pennies (as its the last leg of our trip!)
London, Paris, Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona, Monaco, Pisa, Rome, Venice, Vienna, Prague, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, London

hostelbookers.com i think and just searched by price, they dont charge a booknig fee like some of the others. Il get the info of the camp site, my mate found that one!
I went to Portsmouth university for 3 years, its lovely down there in summer!! Check out the bars at Gunwharf Quays like ‘Tiger Tiger’

flippingthemattress asked about hostels in Belgium…. I stayed recently in a chateau hostel in the countryside — Thieusies; you would need car or bicycle to get to this one. Also noticed an architecturally interesting hostel in Mons — like a brick vault or pyramid in a hillside or something; looked quite modern inside, but I didn’t look around; great location in the center of Mons.
@flippingthemattress: Here is the hostel nick84 was talking about: Hans Brinkers
