Rental Car
Sat, 01/14/2012 - 19:17
I am trying to find out if I can rent a car in London, United Kingdom for two weeks at the age of 20. Also if its possible which rental agency will rent to me. Thanks
I am leaving from JFK with $1500 for 16 days

21 seems to be the minimum age for car rental in UK. I checked (using Expedia and Orbitz plus some UK travel agencies) Hertz, Avis, Thrifty, Budget, National, Europacar, Dollar, Advantage, SixT. Some websites appear to allow younger renters, but when you check the fine print for a UK rental the minimum age shows as 21, 23 or 25. Drivers under 25 always require a hefty daily surcharge which can double the rental rate for a subcompact.
www.car rentals.co.uk comes back with quotes from 121, SixT and arguscarhire when you put 20 in the age box. SixT states a minimum age of 21 on their website. www.arguscarhire.com and http://www.121carren… (the two sites are almost identical, so perhaps related?) list a maximum age, but no minimum age and will return a quote with 20 in the age box. Website fine print states that quoted prices do not include a young driver surcharge which is payable when you pick up the car. Those might be a phone call…
Wow thank you so much for the information. I couldn’t find anything from Googleing around but it looks like I need to take a lesson from you. I will give those companies a call. Thanks so much again.
