Rome nightlife in the summer is awesome. If you want to hit up the clubs there is always something going on. In general the area to go is called something like Trave___. You can ask at your hostel. We just told the cab driver to take us to the "discotecas" If you want to just chill out you can grab a bottle of wine and just chill on the Spanish steps with all the locals..very beautiful and fun. There are tons of bars and an area around Piazza Navona with lots of pubs including the famous "drunken ship" …more american style. In general there is tons to do in the summer…I haven’t taken a pub crawl there but I heard those are awesome as well.

The Testaccio area near Piramide station has some great nightlife.
