RTW Airfare or other?
Mon, 09/12/2005 - 22:53
Hey everyone,
I am trying to figure out my cheapest options here. Here is my story: I plan on going to Australia on a work visa and want to make the most of such a journey, and, I want to be in the air as little as possible. What I mean is, I want to make some stopovers in other countries/cities along the way from NYC to Sydney. I don’t want to be on any plane for more than 8 hours at a time ( i get stir crazy). I am looking at not going to LA and from LA to Australia, rather, I am looking at going the other way and stopping in London (to visit a friend)for a couple of days, and then WHEREEVER in between (i.e. Singapore, Bankok, etc). I am looking to make the most of stop-overs and spending a couple of days in each of them.
How does one go about booking such an airline ticket?
oh, also, I am looking for a flexible return date (open-ended).
Thanks in advance for reponses.
Happy travels
We used AirTreks for our RTW tickets. The dates were very flexible (except for the first date) and got us any flight we wanted. We just had to be home within one year of our start date. Star Alliance and NWA wouldn’t fly to some of the places we wanted to go and we found them (AirTreks)to be cheaper as they are a consolidator. BUT if you are going to larger cities (ie Bangkok, Delhi, Singapore) and want a bunch of Frequent Flyer miles than the Big airlines would be the way to go. ~Amy
PS- If you haven’t been to Turkey yet it would make a good stopover between Europe and Asia, India too!
Hey AMy,
THANK YOU so much for the info!!!!
happy travels
