San Diego to Madrid
Mon, 02/19/2007 - 11:47
Don, You seem to be a master at finding these good fares. The best I can find is $1100 from SAN to anywhere in Europe.
We are going to Madrid to meet my daughter who is studying abroad on
June 22 or 23 to return on July 15th.
We can fly out of LAX or SAN and into Madrid or anywhere that is a great deal and then we’ll take a no frills flight from there.
I’d appreciate your advice!

$817 LAX to Dusseldorf on LTU Airlines, www.ltu.com
See if you can do better with the consolidators I listed in the other thread, and also with www.bookingbuddy.com
I don’t know how much flexibility you have, but if you could go from Vegas (stay with me now!), the 21st, and return the 16th, LTU shows up at only $628 all in. This fare shows availability with those dates on www.orbitz.com
From Dusseldorf to Spain, check www.whichbudget.com — among those options, if you have the chance to go Air Berlin, they’re supposed to be really good.
There are also several options for flying from Cologne to Madrid. I’m not one to get excited about airports, but I tried Cologne airport this month and thought it was great. http://www.whichbudget.com
Cologne airport and Dusseldorf airport are approximately one hour apart by train.
Wahoo, for $628 we can go through Vegas! I’ll check with LTU now. Thanks for your help!
I’ll let ya know how it turned out.
It probably won’t be a problem, but I’d check the options from Dusseldorf before you go ahead and book – just to make sure schedules work out.
I agree – personally I’d want a lot of time between flights. I prefer overnights, but failing that, I’d take enough time to see the city a bit (either Dusseldorf or Cologne) and get back to the airport. Then if the timing fails, at least you’ll have time to get to the airport.
Ok here’s the scoop. I did go to whichbudget.com and found an even better option by combining Don’s idea of flying out of Vegas
San Diego to Vegas — $108 RT Southwest Airlines
Vegas to Frankfurt — $805 incl fees on Condor Air
Thanks for all your help!
Are you walking to Madrid form Frankfurt? [

Hopefully you have enough time built in so that if your Southwest flight is late, you won’t lose out on the Condor flight.
Kath, so the $628 fare Vegas-Dusseldorf, and the $817 LAX-Dusseldorf, don’t work for you?
