Scootering from Marseille to Dijon looking 4 work

GDay fellow Nomadz,
Im in the midst of planning my trip through southern france, and Im trying to iron out a few details, so if anyone has any advice or criticisms of my plan please post all comments.
Im planning on buying a second hand scooter in marseille, riding through the ‘languedoc Roussillon’ fruit region (sept/Oct) and pikcing up as much fruit picking work as possible.
Then zooming up to Dijon way, again acquiring as much backpacking work as possible, selling the scooter for a measly 50euro in dijon and continuing onto germany/poland.
What are the best practicies in obatining fruit picking jobs?
are there farms in these 2 regions, that have contact details online where I can contact them and try to organise labour work during the season?
What are the chance of picking up working If I simply roll into town in sept, and ask around?
Also, I am looking at purchasing a 1 man tent, and sleeper, and crashing in fields and so forth along my route from marseille to Dijon.
Is this legal? are there certain campsites along the way that allow 1 night stragglers to setup n take off?
If anyone has attempted this, or could point me to some websites, it would be muc happreciated.

Hi,
with regard to the fruitpicking jobs. You will need to carry some copies of your resume with you when applying for jobs, plus two references contactable by phone, this is european law.
There has been instances of punk assed Australians and Canadians putting drawing pins and bits of broken windshield into fruit as some sort of funny student prank therefore the clampdown and difficultly in getting casual work. Even trying to get jobs waiting tables means your name is checked against the sex offenders register.
Lots of red tape, fuck look at the au-pairs, 300 offical forms need to be filled in just to change shitey kids dipers… bum deal if you ask me
Biggest problem is that you are of no fixed abode and sleeping on a cow pat = no chance of a job.
As to the scooter, you need a catagory 6 advanced motorcycle Australian licence even to ride a chicken chaser in Europe plus full
leagl/med cover beyond your $75 AUS scabby backpacker insurance premium.
BTW: next time you see Jude Law fannying about Italy on a scooter sporting no helmet with a top bit of totty hanging off the back, it’s Holywood my son, it’s not the real world. Stick to Paris & getting rat arsed drunk with the rest of your Yo-Yo brained countrymen!
Where are you going to take showers if you’re sleeping in fields all the time? I’d image you’ll get pretty dirty and stinky picking fruit, not that the French would be offended by such a thing.
