Hi all, I was glad to find this forum, there’s lots of useful information on here.

I’m going to be in Germany this summer doing a summer research internship. I’m working on nailing down specific plans right now. On the way there, depending on whether or not I can register in a particular class, I may be flying to Berlin in early may or to any of several cities 2 weeks later. I can figure that out, and it’s pending hearing about my registration.

The thing I was wondering is that for my return, I’m not really that picky as to where I fly back to Toronto from, and I’ll have about a week free to travel through Germany and fly from wherever I can get a cheap ticket. I was wondering if there is a particular resource that lets you search to find the cheapest ticket from any of several cities with the thought of finding the cheapest anywhere within a week timeframe. i.e. I could fly from Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, or wherever else if it’s going to be considerably cheaper. If anyone can help me out, I’d really appreciate it.

-Shane

Hi Shane, you can do this with ITA Software month-long search.

Enter your airport separated with a semicolon and no space. For example, from DUS;HAM;CGN;STR;MUC;FRA;BER to YYZ;YHM;BUF;DTW.

ITA doesn’t do bookings—it just searches out the cheapest routings and prices. Take their info direct to the airline’s website, and/or direct to BookingBuddy to see if something cheaper might be available elsewhere for the same cities and dates.

For multi-city itineraries, also try Kayak and Mobissimo.

Finally, sounds like you might be a full-time student(?). If so, also check www.weflyhome.com

www.travelcuts.ca

What Don has said is of course correct. However when you do multiple city search ITA software is more likely to miss some exotic low cost option it might be able find provided you specify just one arrival/departure point.

Also (last time I’ve checked) www.weflyhome.com by Lufthansa is not set up to sell tickets to Germany. I bet the student site Don have in mind is
www.generationfly.co…
It had pretty good student fares to Germany and beyond when it was launched two years ago. But only from the US, not from Canada.

Generationfly… that’s the one—Lufthansa’s own student ticketing site. If you could go from Buffalo or Detroit, the prices might be worth it.

Thanks, guys. I’m thinking I’ll fly by Martinair to Amsterdam, train to Berlin and then at the end of my work period after a brief tour (yet to be determined) flying back home from the same airport.

Is there anything I should know about the airline? the prices seem suspiciously low.
