should i book hostels soon?

Im travelling to europe solo, may/june 2011, thought i would pre book the first few nights and worry about the rest when i was over there… will it be hard to book hostels as i go?
or do i need to book it all before hand? advise would be great, thanks…

book as early as you can
You may have a tough time booking the really popular hostels, but you should be able to find something if you book a few days in advance. IF you do have a set itinerary, book ahead of time. If you want to wing it, give it a few days to book each hostel.
