I have no idea where this topic should go, so I’m posting it here.

Quick poll — how often do you shower when backpacking/traveling in foreign countries?

Daily, unless there’s just no reason and/or it’s very difficult — such as ice cold water or extreme nastiness on floors.

I showered every day, but I really hate being dirty. I found that walking around a city all day in the heat made me feel pretty grimy.

I recommend picking your towel carefully. I went with one of those shammy cloth ones and it almost drove me crazy. It may be small and light, but damn is it obnoxious to use. I think the best bet is a small normal towel that is really really poor quality. It will still work like a normal towel, but by getting a poor quality one you will save on a lot of space.

Personally I shower at least once a day, twice if possible.

I have never relay understood why backpacker’s who use hostels can not wash at least once a day.

Would also agree with swill on the towel front.

Sweet. I was beginning to think everyone was off not showering.

Only the French skip showering on a regular basisWink…agreed that walking around cities, hanging out in train stations means you will get grimey. I take a few things in the shower with me socks, etc. and give ‘em a scrub too (savings wasting a day doing laundry)…I usually bring some twine/string to use as a clothes line at campsites,, hotel rooms etc.
