Sat, 10/27/2012 - 16:38
Hi everyone!
I am new to this forum but I have a feeling people here have good experience with Europe and would like the opinion of you guysso here I go!
I was wondering about side trips in alot of town, staying in a town 3-5 days and a making a side trip that allow me to keep my baggage in a hostel sound realy interesting…
I have found a website with some information on side trip ( exemple of my knowledge of toledo close to Madrid) but i would want more and from some other places aswell.
So having a list of side trip would be realy nice to have here, maybe its already somewhere and I dont know, but i am sure you guys will tell me, hehe…
Having a Hostel in these town.
Lisbon – Sintra
Madrid – toledo,Segovia
Barcelona – Any side trip in nature possible?
Granada – any side trip south to the beach possible?
Rome – Vatican + any small town ?
I am leaving from Montreal with $4200 for 60 days
Paris, Amsterdam, Haarlem, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Bruges, Antwerp, Munich, Antwerp, Dessel, Antwerp
Paris, Amsterdam, Haarlem, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Bruges, Antwerp, Munich, Antwerp, Dessel, Antwerp
I am leaving from Halifax with $5000 for 71 days
Frankfurt, Idar-Oberstein, Strasbourg, Chambéry, Manarola, Pisa, Rome, Graz, Vienna, Budapest, Sofia, Istanbul, Antwerp
Frankfurt, Idar-Oberstein, Strasbourg, Chambéry, Manarola, Pisa, Rome, Graz, Vienna, Budapest, Sofia, Istanbul, Antwerp
Side trip I took from Barcelona: Girona
You might also consider going north to the French border, Colllioure and other small seaside towns are interesting. The beach is not white sand superb, but welcoming, and the atmosphere is fun. There is also the artistic aspect, the Vermillion coast hosted artists such as Charles Rennie Mackintish.
I like your ideas of Toledo and Segovia for Madrid. If possible, you might consider stopping at the enchanting town of Salmanca.
For Rome, consider a day trip to Hadrian’s Villa. We spent the day there, it was well worth it.
Wow! Thx alot Cil!
Hadrian’s Villa does look very very beautiful and historical
I did found Girona a couple of days after i wrote this message, was wondering what you suggest over there thats not the beach.
Toledo is a must for me, realy want to see this cascle with my own eyes and just get the feeling and and old architecture style!
Speaking of french border, In my trip I was thinking of visiting south of france, Montpellier probably since my roomate worked there for a year in the past and talked alot about it!
Anything nice to see from barcelona/girona to montpellier?
Paris, Amsterdam, Haarlem, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Bruges, Antwerp, Munich, Antwerp, Dessel, Antwerp
Frankfurt, Idar-Oberstein, Strasbourg, Chambéry, Manarola, Pisa, Rome, Graz, Vienna, Budapest, Sofia, Istanbul, Antwerp
We enjoyed Montpellier. There is a young student atmosphere, though the town is small.
Changing trains at the Spain/France border can be tricky. But the south of France is so worth it.
Think about Toulouse. Also Narbonne. You might look into taking the bus, too.
Train can get tricky from barcelona to montpellier? Do I have do change train at the boarder?
beach in south france are nice?
I was sure that was a easy travel zone ( not like close to Irun/San sebastian)
Well montpellier looks nice for me..I realy dont want only big city in my trip so having 3 days in that town would be lovely!
Never heard of Narbone but I do like where it is located
Paris, Amsterdam, Haarlem, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Bruges, Antwerp, Munich, Antwerp, Dessel, Antwerp
Frankfurt, Idar-Oberstein, Strasbourg, Chambéry, Manarola, Pisa, Rome, Graz, Vienna, Budapest, Sofia, Istanbul, Antwerp
We did not take the train to Montpellier (we drove) so I can’t advise you there. You might know more about the train system there than I do! We did cross the border at Hendaye and it was not really that big a deal to get to the Euskotren to Irun/San Sebastian.
Train from Barcelona to Montpelier Saint- Roch, France does not seem to be that difficult. It generally takes 4 to 5 hours and involves 1 connection. There just aren’t the usual dozens of options to choose from. Best bets are the train at 12:22 with 1 connection that takes just under 4 hours and the direct train (no connections) at 16:42 that takes 4 1/2 hours. Border crossing formalities will be easy — either “nothing” like crossing from 1 Canadian Provence to another, or border agents will board the train and check passports.
If you use “Montpelier” on the Bahn.de site, it routes to Montpelier in UK — 18 to 22 hours and 4 or 5 connections.Bangladesh is also a wonderful place for travel
