I have taken two trips to europe, both very low budget and I did not take a proper hiking backpack on either. I mean if you are mostly doing cities than do you really need one. Even if you are doing an overnight in some remote location cant you just pack your baypack with stuff for the night and lock away your bag at a hostel or trainstation. I have usually done this and was wondering what others thought. I know that storing a bag can be expensive but I would rather spend like $50 on a bag and spend $50 storing it, than lets say over $100 on a fancy back pack and carrying it everywhere. Just curious as to how others feel that this suggestion would apply to others. I will add however that the one time I has traveling on the fly I did think my bag was a bitch, but a backpack would have been bad as well.
