Hi all! Just looking for some feedback.
I am planning a pretty long trip—several months at least—next year. My plan is to spend lots of time in a few places—some time in Auroville, which is an international intentional community near Pondicherry, in southern India . . . some time working on some organic farms . . . some time with some international volunteer work camps . . . some time visiting some friends. For the most part, I will not be "on the go" all the time; however, so much will be accessible to me and of course there will be lots of spontaneous side trips.
Here’s my dilemma: I’ve traveled lots over the last several years and have a sleeping bag I’ve taken with me all the time and love. I’m going to be gone for a long time, though, and want to carry as little as possible with me. Taking a silk sleep sack and a thin down sleeping bag (like the Menda Palm at www.menda.com.au) would cut down SIGNIFICANTLY on my pack weight and size . . . but will I miss my sleeping bag? Am I going to find myself wishing I’d brought it?
Ultimately this is a personal decision, I know, but I’d love some feedback on your experiences with either.
Any feedback or suggestions on any of the things I’m planning would be great too!
Thanks.
