Spain Itinerary... Help...pretty please
Tue, 04/27/2004 - 13:40
My friends and I are kind of stumped on what to do here… We only have 7 days in Spain and were thinking of which plan is best.
option 1:
Land in Barcelona
fly to Sevilla (2 nights)
Marbella (1 night)
fly back to Barcelona (4 nights)
OR
option 2:
Land in BCN
fly to Sevilla (2 nights)
Marbella (1 night)
Madrid (2 nights)
Barcelona (2 nights)
Option 1 is nice because it won’t be so rushed (and we can go to the Primavera festival), but option 2 is in there bc one of my friends wants to see her friend in Madrid and well, we can visit Madrid! We need some guidance! thanks!
PS. All of us have been to Spain, but 3 out of 6 has never been to Barcelona. And 5 out of 6 has never partied in Madrid, which is what we want to do.

i’d go for option 1…but i’m not a big fan of madrid, nor do i have friends there. i loved barcelona…and any partying that you can do in madrid can be done just as easily in barcelona. just one guy’s opinion…
I also like option 1. Madrid is all right, but it’s not how I would use my time on a short trip. Then again, since many of you have been to Barcelona before, maybe the point is to see something new.
Why are you going to Marbella? If it’s just to go to the beach, I’d say pick a place closer to Barcelona to save yourself time.
hi hi, thanks for the feedback… ok im thinking a new plan of attack, but need some more help…
-Land Barcelona (too bad we aren’t landing in madrid!)
-Go to madrid 2 nights
-then 2 nights in maybe Valencia? Sitges? Salamanca? San sebastian? (which of these are more convenient travel time wise? Or what’s another city we could go to? we are looking for something fun and maybe a beach)
-Barcelona 3 nights
(originally planned to go to marbella to see friends, but right now, I’m just thinking there’s not enough time)
Since you are flying all the way to Spain why don’t you have your friends come see you in Barcelona? That is where I would spend the majority of my time.
agree with eurotraveler. Have your friends met you either in Barcelona or someother mutual place, perhaps somewhere that no one has been before.
I hope you don’t mind me barging in here like this and posting my question, I hate to open new threads when we can share one.
The dates aren’t much of an issue, or the time either, the places I wan’t to see in Spain are: Barcelona, Sevilla, Madrid, Granada, Cordoba, Salamanca, and possibly Murcia, to see a friend there. I was hoping I could land on Barcelona and work my way south, but unfortunately I’ll land in Madrid, right in the middle. It seems to me that I’ll do a lot of backtracking, or spend too much time going around to finish at the starting point, so I’m thinking of this option.
Go south to Sevilla, Cordoba and Granada, and then continue my trip through Europe, and coming back, catch Barcelona and Salamanca and back to Madrid to catch my flight back home (and ask my friend in Murcia to meet me somewhere in between.
Or the other way around. Does this sound coherent?
Jester, I think your plan sounds perfect…
I have my new plan now too.
2 days San Sebastian
2 days Madrid
3 days Barcelona
yay!
Well, congratulations. Now I need a plan for the rest of the 9 countries
Sorry to bring up an old topic to ask a new question, but it is related and saves starting a new thread
Anyways, I need help choosing between 2 options.
Option 1: Go from Italy up the East side of France to Paris, and fly from Paris to Spain (maybe Barcelona). Fly back to Paris from one of the airports in Spain.
Option 2: Go from Italy along southern France, into Spain (Barcelona), and then back into France, leaving from San Sebastian. (All by train/bus)
Now, the problem is that Spain is quite a large place, with my three main destinations being in opposite directions. I’m wanting to see Barcelona, Seville (including Granada), and San Sebastian. In this case, is it best to use the train system, or fly? – Does anyone know what the average travelling costs would be for train vs. plane? What makes this harder to plan is that I really don’t have any interest in the west side of France, so if option 2 is chosen, then there will be a fair bit of backtracking done, which preferably I’d like to avoid.
I am willing to leave San Sebastian off my destination list if it’s not worthwhile – so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Option 3. A ‘Fast Ship’ from Italy to Barcelona or Check out Vueling, a fairly new discount air carrier that operates out of Barcelona. I don’t know if Sevila is one of its destinations yet. http://www.vueling.c… but Milan and Rome are
Thought I’d throw out a few thoughts. As Eddie suggested, you can fly cheaply from several cities in Italy to Barcelona (or nearby Girona), and Ryan Air even flies Milan-Sevilla. Vueling and Span Air both have cheap flights between Sevilla & Barcelona (Span Air is as little as 35 euros tax incl.). You could then go by train/bus to Granada and take the train up to Barcelona or go through Madrid to San Sebastian, then on to Barcelona, and north to France.
I think I quite like option 3
Thanks for your suggestions!
Just continuing my research. I have decided to fly from Italy to Spain, and vueling is fairly cheap, though I can’t seem to find any information on Span Air. Do they have a website that you know of?
Thanks
http://www.spanair.c… They’re generally cheaper than Vueling for flights within Spain if you get their special fares, but don’t fly to Italy.
You can also check Ryanair for Italy-Spain flights http://www.ryaniar.c…
As far as Italy-Spain flights, I’d also throw in myair.com. My roommate and I flew them the Saturday before Easter from Venice to Madrid, and it was probably one of the easiest, cleanest budget flights I’ve ever taken. It’s an Italian airline, an, d relatively new on the budget flight scene. Plus they gave us Easter candy so they earned a few extra fun points in my book
