There’s good news for those of you who have a parent, or even a grandparent from Spain. Spain has always been one of the tougher EU countries regarding dual citizenship for children and grandchidlren of expats. A new law passed in Spain will make it easier for children of Spanish nationals living overseas to apply for a work permit in Spain -which will also allow them to work anywhere in the European Union. Dual citizenship is still a little tougher; the applicant must have been living in Spain at least a year to apply for dual citizenship. If you do not have this, you will still have an easier time applying for a Spanish work visa than poeple who are not descended from Spanish nationals. I think there’s a limited time offer for these. Check the BBC article above for more info, and contact your local Spanish consulate, if you have a parent or grandparents from Spain, and would like to work in Spain or elsewhere in the EU.
