Spam and Blocking Users
Mon, 12/08/2008 - 12:24
I have added additional measures for blocking users that I have given mim access to. I saw that there is a bunch of spam that got entered the last day or two.
I have been considering giving Moderators the ability to ban users, but I have not run that past the other eurotrip admin personnel yet. I would like feedback from you guys (the moderators) in regards to this. Would it be good for you guys to have that type of control? This is a level of control that I am not sure that you would want or feel you should have, so in an effort to be transparent I would like to get your opinion.
In general do you (as moderators) feel that you have enough control of what happens in the forums? Are there things that you feel you should be able to do that I have not given you access to?
Thanks for the feedback,
Will

Usually the only reason I’ve had to ban in the past has been because of serial spamming. I can only think of one instance where we suspended someone for failure to follow our guidelines. When we were using the ASP Playground forum software, I automatically had access to IP bans and had no problem handling it. I think we’re good as long as we stick to out system of mod’s deleting the spam post and posting the user name in this forum for me to ban.

I’d go with what mim said. As an admin you don’t want everyone to be able to do certain things. Not that many people need to be able to ban to you two (mim and swill) should be enough.
If it really gets bad though……just let me know where they live.
Eat the food, use the wrong verbs, and end up getting charged double.
I agree with mb and mim — particularly since you guys are so quick about taking care of the situation.
Ok, perfect… Thanks for the feedback.
