suggestions for 30 yo travelling solo in November?
Sat, 08/21/2004 - 16:58
This is sort of broad question, but I’m thinking of going to Europe solo in November (for maybe 10 days). I have never been before, because I have wasted so much time trying to arrange trips with others.
I was thinking of starting in London, but I’m open to any suggestions….has anyone had an especially great time travelling solo in a particular country or city? Want to recommend it? I feel a little overwhelmed with the choices. Or maybe I’m just lazy. : )

I think London’s a good place to start due to the language thing. If your 10 days counts your flight to/from US, I’d stick to England/Scotland/Wales — maybe even just London and day trips. Day 1 is your flight over, day 2 is arrive and adjust day, and day 10 is your flight home, Day 9 is often "get back to starting point for flight home" day. If you have more time, try London and Paris — taking Eurostar between if you can afford it.
Remember that Northern Europe is farther north than most of the US. That doesn’t make it colder, but it does make the days shorter. It’s often rainy which can make it pretty dreary in November — not to discourage you — you’ll have a great time, just don’t expect sunshine.
I would go to Spain myself….I just really love it. I can’t think of anything special going on diurring that time but I did go there a couple thanksgivings ago and the weather was very pleasant.
thank you both.
