Super Cheap Fares to Spain, August-April
Thu, 06/16/2011 - 12:07
You’ll have to do some searching and jump on these now as many seats have already disappeared, but it looks like Span Air made a mistake and left off some taxes when they put fares in the computer. Fares range from the $300’s to $500’s all in and many sites no longer show seats; I’ve had the best luck on Orbitz with the flexible search, using a month long range. I don’t know all cities the fares are good from, but I do know Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore, LAX, Seattle, and San Diego work. There seems to be nothing from the midwest and Bay Area. The Christmas season is blacked out, but I did see some seats over Thanksgiving.
Sample: LAX-BCN, MAD-LAX 8/9-8/19 $540.
Yeah, I was bummed out (but unsurprised) about the Christmas season.
Some good summer fares for sure.
Edited to add: Airfarewatchdog is saying they have received reports that Travelocity is not honoring some of the cheapo airfares.
They recommend going to this website if necessary: http://airconsumer.d…
Yeah, Orbitz and some other sites are cancelling the tickets because the airline(s) are refusing to confirm them. From what I read at flyertalk Spanair is blaming U.S. Air (these tickets are ticketed on Spanair but flown on U.S. Air planes) and when someone called Travelocity or Priceline the agent said they’re expecting a class action suit from angry people who are having their reservations cancelled.
