Swapping spare tent tickets (Sept. 26th - Oct. 1st)
Fri, 08/24/2007 - 03:18
Hi!
We are three guys who are going to Oktoberfest this year (Sept. 26th until Oct. 1st). We have got tickets for Hippodrom on the 27th (16:00), but we were only allowed to buy six tickets – no less. So, we are looking for someone in a simular situation, who would want to swap spare tickets. Any tent (which require a ticket), and day (as long as we are in town), any time. Anybody interested?
R.
Im not sure how the ticket thing even works but, im going to be there with 2 other guys during those dates. If you cant swap them out for other tickets we would be happy to buy them off of you. let me know.
Most of the tents won’t let you in without a ticket/reservation, and most of them should be gone by now (We made our reservations in March, and still couldn’t the the ones we really wanted).
We would much prefer to swap tickets with someone, but if no one have tickets to swap in the next 2-3 weeks, we would consider selling ours.
Sorry, but you have been severely mis-informed on this matter. Tents do not require reservations at all. Here are some facts:
A. Tents get crowded early (11:00 – 12:00) on weekends, and will CLOSE their doors, ONLY if & when they are at complete capacity. Even on a very busy weekend, approximately 8 to 10 of the 14 bier tents will still have standing-room, a few scattered seats, and open doors at 5pm…
B. Tickets and reserved tables only make it more convenient for 10 or more person parties in most tents. The Weinzelt und Hippodrom have smaller (6 to 8) tables, etc.
C. It is relatively easy to get a seat, and share a table with local folks, and/or visitors from all over the globe DURING THE WEEK… This is true much of the day..
Again, reservations are NOT REQUIRED or eben suggested for 2, 3, 5 people…

I went to Oktoberfest last year too, and I know it isn’t easy to get into the tents – especially the most popular ones. I even had a reservation for Hippodrom, but I was 45 minutes late, and could not come in.
SOME tents are open to all, but many are not.
Got ya sun. I just figured it may alleviate having to wait on line one day. However, you bring up a valid point. Im sure we will be meeting a ton of people while we are there and end up sharing a table. Besides, with a small group we are probably better off just winging it. Once the beer starts flowing, even the best laid plans go right out of the window.
don’t hassle the master (Sun)….. all are open to all…….. amateur
Only 23 days & change!
