TEACHING ENGLISH IN EUROPE
Sat, 01/28/2006 - 21:33
I am an American who is about to graduate from college. I am very interested in working in Europe, teaching English as a foreign language. Any program suggestions on getting certified? Any places that are easier than others to get visas? Living expenses? Can you do this and still save money? What about insurance? Please also tell about your personal experiences…I am very curious about how this all works!
Thank you!

Kia Ora Americano,
Lotsa questions there but heres what I know:
TEFL Certificates are the way to go. You can chose a Diploma in Teaching English as a foreign language or A certificate. The entire course is done online so you can learn at your own pace and there are teachers for online support. I the qaulifications cost around $500 – $700 (unsure of american dollars) www.tefl.com i think is the website.
I have not used this certificate to work over seas though and am unsure of how easy/hard it is to get work with it. You may want to post another question asking people that have used it.
Good luck on your journey
A friend of mine spent most of last year in France teaching and 2 more of them are heading off to do the same thing soon. I’ll try and find out what program they are going with and some other details.
Please, find out what they went through, how they did it, visa info…any details are appreciated. I just figured as a fresh grad, I am more apt to have the ability to pursue this kind of opportunity. Thank you for your help!
