Hi, who has been to Tijuana? Do you think its worth taking a day trip from LA? I would mainly go for the markets – are they great? do they sell good silver jewellery at an inexpensive price? Lots of arts and crafts?

I have been to Tijuana a few times. I wasnt impresed with the shopping. Didnt seem that much cheaper than a flea market in the US….and quailty was poor. Was a fun day trip from SD though. LA is quite far for a day trip.

If you go…park on the US side and walk over. DONT take a car

Yes, you can find cheap stuff, provided they think you are Mexican, otherwise you will be ripped off.

I am leaving from US and traveling for 11 days

1) if you drive be very careful. Police will pull you over for nothing and demand money (bribes)
2) bargain because you can. Lots of stuff are poorer quality including cigs. Dont assume its the same stuff as LA even though the packaging looks like it.

All in all its fun to go there with a group of people. Lots of UCSD students go there. I personally like to fly down and vacation in other parts. Cancun was a lot of fun. So is Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas, Mazitlan, Loreto, Puerto Vallarta, etc.
