I’m thinking of taking a backpacking trip around Europe after I graduate from college. In the March and April time period, over a year from now so I have lots of time to plan. I’ll be 23 at the time, but I look a lot younger, will that pose any problems do you think?
Does anyone have advice for planning, and convincing my mom and dad i’ll be ok?
Thanks!!

Your age and appearance will not pose a problem. Thousands of 18 and 19 year olds travel Europe each year — the European kids who are traveling on their own are even younger.
Best advice for dealing with Mom and Dad will be clear plans, a well-thought budget and the promise to e-mail or call them every few days.
Initial planning would be:
How long?
Budget: plane ticket + cost of unlimited eurailpass for the amount of time + $60-75 US per day + $200 emergency stash.
Which cities or countries are "musts" for you?
Develop a basic route — tour company brochures from the travel agent are a great place to start.
