i am having trouble finding cheap flights from raleigh (rdu) to western europe for 2. we plan on travelling to the netherlands, germany, austria, italy, switzerland, france, spain, and belgium, so flying into any city in those countries would work. we hope to travel for two or three weeks from around june 23 to july 14th.

i was wondering if there were better days of the week and/or cities that are cheaper than others.

so far i have checked travelocity, orbitz, expedia, cheaptickets, itasoftware, airgorilla, 1800cheapseats, nwa, skytours cheapair, farefox, and lowestfare. the lowest i found was 2 x $847+ taxes = $1908 on flights.com from rdu to ams june 23 – july 14.

i have mostly checked ams around those dates because i thought that flying into amsterdam would give me the best price. i just don’t think we can afford that much.

also, what are the general qualifications for student fares?

thanks in advance for any advice you might have…

lindsay

Forget Raleig(RDU) airport. US Airways has great RT fares out of Charlotte…

I am leaving from EWR with $4000 for 9 days

Sounds like you have done some homework! 847 for your itinerary is very good. But as sunskin suggests, if you could go from CLT, it might be worth it. If you are flexible, check around the smaller airports too—sometimes there is a "surprise" fare on a route that you wouldn’t expect. If you could also use Greenville, Norfolk, Richmond, Wilmington also, try them too.

London is usually the cheapest roundtrip from USA. American Airlines fly a big Boeing 777 between RDU and Gatwick 5-6 days per week, so that would be easiest (but rarely cheapest).
