I just noticed today that the Irish punt is currently worth about $1.20 USD (tons better than the normal $1.70!). My boyfriend and I are backpacking in Ireland in September, and upon hearing this news, he got all excited and wondered if we should change currencies here in the States, now, and just hold on to the cash til Sept.

Now I’ve heard it’s cheaper to change money upon arriving at your actual destination – it’s what I’ve always done. But has anyone ever done it from home to take advantage of low conversion rates? It kind of sounds like a hassle!

thanks as always for your wisdom!
