too many stops?
Wed, 04/16/2008 - 15:04
me and a couple friends are planning on spending 3 or 4 weeks in europe this summer and i wanted to know if it was possible to take a trip around most of the continent stopping in 12 countries for 1 to 2 days at a time.
If you see 12 countries for 1.5 days (and you have to assume it will be at least 0.5 days to get to/from each country), what will you gather from that? Most of your time will be spent in transit, rather than actually enjoying anything at your destination.
Sure it’s possible. You could “hit” 21 countries in 21 days if you wanted to, but if you just want to look out the window of buses and trains and sit in airport departure lounges, why bother to go to Europe at all?
Yep, it’s much better to go to fewer places, for longer.
Bath, Haltwhistle, London, Füssen, Freiburg, Stuttgart, Speyer, Nördlingen, Salzburg, Hallstatt, Salzburg, Rome, Ostia Antica, Athens, Delphi, Athens
how many would be recommended?
Just tell us your original plan of 12 destinations and we’ll help you cut them down
If you have any questions about Prague or Czech and Slovak republics, ask me.
If you only want to search train or bus connection within Czech&Slovakia and/or to neighboring countries, use www.cp.sk or www.idos.cz search engines. For domestic transport, they also show prices.
At the very least, cut it in half.

If you try to see that many in that little amount of time, you won’t see anything. I’d say cut in at least half too. Just pick the places you want to see most and go for those. Save the others for next year.
would it be too much to see paris, amsterdam, berlin, prague, venice, rome, monte carlo, and barcelona in a month?
You’re looking at 3 or 4 days each minus train time. Cut back a little more and see some more on your next trip. Try 4 day stops. The idea is too enjoy your time there, not get stamps and run home to show them.
Eat the food, use the wrong verbs, and end up getting charged double.
Throw out the last three mentioned and your trip will be great. Or cut Barcelona and Monte Carlo to one day only.

on my first trip of 25 days i went to holland, spain, italy and france.
i saw around 7 or 8 different cities and by the 15th day of my trip, i was exausted. so i decided to spend the last 10 days of my trip in rome, my last destination. id say i made a huge mistake trying to see too much so quickly.
