trains in Morocco and Spain
Mon, 02/12/2007 - 22:19
I am planning on tripping to Spain (Barcelona, sevilla, algeciras probably) and Morocco (fez, tangiers, marrakesh) and I’m wondering how these trains are.
tentative routes:
Barcelona to Sevilla
Seville to Algeciras
Algeciras to Tangiers
Tangiers to Fez
Fez to Marrakesh
Marrkesh to Tangiers
Tangiers to Barcelona (eep!)
are any of these train rides terrible?
Also, is it going to be terrible to take a train from Tangiers to Barcelona. I have heard travel in that area is long and terrible. I can’t find a flight from Marrakesh or Tangiers to Barcelona for under 122.00. Is there a better option for me?
Thanks so much!! I cannot wait!
what do you consider a terrible train ride? If 6+ hours on a train is long and terrible to you, then yes, some of these will be, especially Barcelona-Sevilla. Spain is a rather large country and even though trains are pretty fast, it takes a while to get across it.
Easyjet has a cheap route from Marrakech to Madrid.
Spain has an excellent rail system.

most of the trains in spain are very nice – and very do-able

I’m not sure about Morrocco, never traveled there myself
i’ve been researching how to get to morocco from the mainlaind, seems ferries from [=“times new roman”]Spain (tarifa) to morocco (tanga) is my best bet, agree?[/] i’ve found a few sites but they all seem flaky, this is the closet i’ve come http://www.directferries.co.uk but gives an error when trying to get a quote, anyone have any advice? can walk up to a ferry terminal buy a ticket and walk on? will it be more expensive? or full? i’m going in late june, thanks!
