transportation from london airport
Wed, 05/02/2007 - 16:12
so i will be arriving at london gatwick at 9:55 am, and I want to immediately get on a train/bus north to manchester. Can anyone tell me how long it would take to get to “London Victoria, Greenline Coach Station” from the airport? or most train stations in london in general, im not sure which train station i will be leaving from yet.
would i be able to make it for a train by 12 pm if my plane lands at 9:55 ?
If you take the gatwick express train to Victoria it’s only about 30 minutes if I remember right. It’s quite expensive but, fast. There are cheaper options.Victoria train station is only about a block from the greenline coach station. There’ll be signs. We just caught the coach from the street. You can buy the tickets from the drivers. Check out this website http://www.londontoolkit.com. It has very helpful information about London transportation. Also there is an actual Victoria Coach station about a block from the greenline station.
Yeah, the Gatwick Express is definitly the fastest option. It takes about 30 mins to get to Victoria station and costs about 11 or 12 pounds. Atleast that’s what it cost when I used it a couple years ago. There are suburban trains which follow the exact same route at the Express, but they make many stops, making the journey a bit longer, but also a little cheaper.
If your goal is to head right to manchester it maybe wise to grab a southern train to watford junction and transfer to a virgin service to manchester. You can check that out at www.virgintrains.co….. Figuring that customs can be a long wait you could grab the southern train that leaves gatwick at 11:20 and arrives watford junction at 1237. The connection to manchester leaves at 1320 and arrives manchester at 1524. Taking the southern service into victoria is the best option if you want to head via victoria. It’s cheaper and doesnt take much longer and is I believe 5 quid less.
