OK, so…I should preface this by saying I know that August is peak travel time in Greece, and I know that everyone AND their brother will be there and that flights are through the roof.

That being said, my husband and I want to travel from ATL to either ATH or SKG, leaving 8/3 and returning 8/23 (although we’re flexible).

The cheapest price I’ve found that’s still available is $1266 round trip from ATL to ATH, and $1369 round trip from ATL to SKG. Thessaloniki would be our preferred destination, since we’re visiting family in northern Greece. If we flew into ATH, it would be another $250 or so to fly aegean air to SKG.

What do you think we should do? Is this a good enough price that we should snap up, or do we have breathing room? Thanks in advance!

I don’t think you’ve got much breathing room on ATL-Greece with early August outbound. Are you planning to visit Athens, or just interested if airfare is cheaper that way?

Consider flying to a cheaper airport in Europe, then take another flight to Greece. www.whichbudget.com/…

Also www.greeceflights.co… might help.

We’re only interested in going through Athens if it’s cheaper…it would be much more convenient to fly into Thessaloniki. It looks like with fares the way they currently are, that it would be more economical to just fly roundtrip ATL to Thessaloniki. Thanks for the suggestions!

Woo hoo! We bought tickets Friday for $980 roundtrip…that’s the price WITH taxes, fees, etc… We just happened upon that fare using Yahoo’s farechaser, of course all those tickets were snapped up pretty quickly. Just for fun, my husband looked again last night and they had dropped more for that price. What a deal! We are super super excited to have them. []

Great price. Thanks for the tip. It definitely pays to shop around—in this case, it paid you nearly $600 in savings vs. cheapest otherwise to Athens!
