traveling alone at 17
Sat, 08/15/2009 - 16:44
Hey, im travelling around europe (probably France, Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria and Italy) for 22 days on my own and am just wondering if being under 18 could make finding a hostel (or any other part of the trip) any more difficult as some places i have seen on the internet don’t allow under 18’s without an adult and i am planning on booking some of the hostels when i arrive.
I am leaving from Sheffield, England and traveling for 22 days

I don’t think you’ll have any problems because you’re under 18. Continue your internet checking to identify the “18 and over” places so you don’t waste time going to hostels that won’t accept you. However, I’d be surprised if you couldn’t get into a place if you had cash in hand.
If you don’t get much traffic here, I’d suggest posting this question on “hostels.”
I agree with Oldldady.
My kid went over to Europe and turned 18 while he was there—of course he was a guy, but regardless all they wanted was his money, not his ID.
