Traveling through Eastern Europe during off season
Thu, 02/24/2011 - 04:27
I’m going to Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Romania for my spring break in late march (12 days). Heres what I’de like to do (will be cutting out one place):
Departing/Returning: Florence
*********************************
Split, Croatia – 2 days
Dubrovnik, Croatia – 2 days
Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina – 2 days
Srebrenik, Bosnia and Herzegovina – 2 days
Sibiu, Romania – 2 days
Bucharest, Romania – 2 days
Since its off-season and some of these places are small and hard to get to, I’m wondering if anyone knows the cheapest and fastest way to get through these places and back to Florence in this short time. I don’t have much $ but I don’t want to waste time traveling either, so I want to find some happy medium that allows me to see all these places. I am thinking of taking the ferry to split from ancona to split, but theres only like two places running right now and its kind of expensive/takes a long time overall. If anyone has any advice or tips I’de love to hear them, and if you think I should go in a different order, let me know!
Thanks,
Claire
I am leaving from Florence, Italy with $800 for 12 days

Look for some cheap flights. Use www.which budget.com to see which low fare airlines fly which routes and check our “cheap flights” forum for more links, tips and help. Read the stickys at the top of the forum.
Use www.eurolines.com for bus schedules. That’s probably the best general bus company, but there will be lots of other, smaller ones. Check a guidebook for the region for more bus companies. You can check train schedules for anywhere in Europe at www.bahn.de
This may be too rushed for this part of Europe. Travel time and travel logistics are going to eat up a lot of your time. Think about cutting at least 1 destination.
