trip budget
Fri, 02/09/2007 - 03:50
Out of boredom I decided to figure up my fall travel budget, which was easy because I only used my debit card. Thought I’d share. I was surprised that my total budget, including transportation (except for flights) came out to $36/day for 50+ days.
I spent quite a few nights sleeping on couches, slept in an airport or two, had a few overnight trains, and cooked several meals, but it was all well worth it.
A few interesting notes:
15 days in Romania only cost me $24/day, but I didn’t party a whole lot and cooked a lot (didn’t much care for Romanian food).
I still think Bulgaria was cheaper than Romania, even though I spent $36 per day. I partied a lot and feasted at good restruants almost every night.
Istanbul cost me $56/day. Hostels were only about 7-8 euro per night, but I spent a lot of money partying.
3 1/2 days in scotland only cost me $32/day. I paid for 2 nights in a hostel and only ate 3 full meals. The hostel had free hot chocolate so I tried to derive calories out of that.
Pretty cheap for Scotland!
Somehow our lodging seemed to cost a lot there. Had some good breakfasts though.
A trip would be great. The budget is pretty limited though. I’ve got a free ticket that would get me to Bangkok but I don’t have the money to spend once I got there.
Eat the food, use the wrong verbs, and end up getting charged double.
Not bad at all…!
You did good
