trip to france in feb 2007
Fri, 12/01/2006 - 00:13
Hi..could you suggest a good itenary for a trip to france, with paris as base for 5 days in Feb 2007.Would 5 days be good enough time for everything or will Paris alone take up 5 days?

Well, you’re not going to cover all of France in 5 days.
You could maybe spend three days in Paris itself, and take day trips out for the other 2.
Maybe you could visit Reims (Champagne region) one of the days.
Another day could be spent at Chartres (beautiful cathedral)or perhaps Fontainebleau (non-touristy equivalent of Versailles).
I agree with Cil. Another possibility would be 3 days in Paris and an overnight trip to Normandy and/or Britany. I also recommend Versailles as a day trip from Paris.
What would be the best way, transportation wise for the day trips?Would there be any conducted tours available to the places you suggested?or would driving around and doing it on our own be better considering the fact that we dont speak french and are used to driving the American way with automatic transmission.
Could you please also suggest the best way to get to Paris from Frankfurt..looked into flights and the cheapest flight was about 150$..any other cheaper option that does not eat up too much vacation time.
Train for both day trips or Paris to Frankfurt. No need to drive.
Air Berlin might have a cheap flight but to me they aren’t all that inexpensive (have you already asked in Cheap Flights?)
Is that $150 flight round trip or one way? The train will probably cost about 80 euros each way.
Thanks for all that info.Any suggestions on which area in Paris to book hotels in..a *** on a budget price and easy accessibility to all the touristy spots.
There are no exact locations.
Type in "
aris hostels" into any search engine, or search for hostels in a Lonely Planet or some other guide book on Paris. Find some palces that fit your budget. Give is the links or at least the addresses, and we’ll tell you if the locations are good or crappy.
And make sure you also give is what municipality they’re in. Some might be located in a suburb, and not within the city limits of Paris. In most cases, you don’t want a suburb, but sometimes it can be a pretty good location.
You should have no trouble finding cheap places to stay in February. There are also many affordable hotels, so don’t forget to look at hotels too.

Will any of the winery tours be available in Feb or will they be closed for winter?Could you please give me suggestions on which ones would be good to visit as a day trip from paris.
Pick which wine you are interested in, then google it.
Go to the website and read what they say.
I really don’t know how seasonal they are, but there are plenty to choose from.
We did make a reservation to tour the cellar at Veuve Clicquot, but I am not sure how necessary it was.
Hi..got a list of hotels and their addreses, could you give me your opinions regarding their location, proximity to the tourist sites and also as to how convinient they are to the metro and good eating spots.Any other hotel suggestions are also welcome.I’m looking for a 3-4 star hotel in the 500-800Euro price range.

Forgot to mention above that the 500-800Euro price range is for a 6 night stay in a 3-4 star hotel.
This will be a very brief reply about your list of hotels because I don’t have time right now. The Meridian Montparnasse would be very close to the Montparnasse train station, and lots of restaurants. The price might exceed your budget, but there are often special deals.
I’d scratch the place in Neuilly, not because there’d be anything wrong with it, but because you’d waste a lot of time commuting (I think I might have stayed there on my first trip to Paris, when it was a Club Med Hotel. Nice neighborhood, but few restaurants, etc nearby).
