Would anyone know what is the best and safest way to go from the Turkish Aegean coast (around Izmir or Efes) to Syria (Aleppo, Latakkie, or Tartous)? Is there a ferry doing the connection?

I know there is a bus doing Antakya-Aleppo, but have been told a woman travelling alone is better off avoiding the Turkish-Syrian border.
