I will be traveling in Europe with my daughter in mid December for two weeks and will start and end the trip in Barcelona. I need advise on where are the best places to visit in Spain. Any small villages worth visiting? We are thinking of doing Spain and France but are open to any other suggestions. We’ve been to Italy so prefer somewhere else. I am also not sure how many days to give for each city. Any suggestions are appreciated!

I am leaving from Los Angeles and traveling for 13 days
Barcelona, Seville, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona

In france, I would advise going to Paris, Strasbourg, and avignon to get a taste of different great areas of france. Lyon is nice too, but I would try to avoid marseille if you only have a small time in france.

I am leaving from Atlanta, GA with $3000 for 36 days
Amsterdam, Hamburg, Berlin, Prague, Mostar, Sarajevo, Bol, Makarska, Florence, Málaga, Seville, Barcelona, Ibiza Town

I think you’re trying to cram in too many places. Not every place requires three or four days, but so many one and two day stops will make your trip an exhausting whirlwind with too much time spent on trains.

Hi Smile I’m currently studying in Valencia, Spain. A few places I’ve been that are smaller are Toledo and Xativa. Toledo is a beautiful city with a lot of historical sights. It has winding cobblestone roads and fun, eclectic shops. Near by is El Escorial, the burial place of Franco. Xativa is another smaller, less touristy town that is home to a super old castle. You can hike up the mountain and tour the castle.

I have yet to visit Granada, which is in southern Spain, but everyone here says it’s absolutely beautiful.

Hope this helps Smile

I like Tigrouflip’s recommendations, but maybe not for this particular trip.
If you are based in Barcelona, you could follow the coast into France, checking out places like the Basque country, the Camargue, Collioure or Arles—maybe up to Avignon.
OTOH, what about staying in Spain, heading towards Cantabria (Santander), Asturias and and maybe even Portugal? (This area really intrigues me. I thought we might have time to do it last spring, but soon realized it wouldn’t work.)

Totally agree with you.. It’s too much for 2 weeks. This route would be ok if you were planning a 3 or 4 week trip.

Granada is a must for the Al Hambra alone. Seville is another beautiful city and has some great flamenco clubs. If you a bullfighting fan (or even if you’re not) Ronda is worth a day trip from seville
