Well, I will never fly United Airlines again. Over the years, I have missed-out on alot of air miles… Probably in the area of 60,000 actual miles. However, I signed-up for about 7 differnent air mileage programs with the different carriers back in 1995. So, I have been keeping good track, getting double miles(when possible), and signing-up for Air Mile VISA credit cards, AMEX Sky Miles, etc. That in mind; I have close to 300,000 miles since 1995. I’ve got 85,000 with Delta; 60,000 with Northwest; 30,000 on British Airways; and Lufthansa… and perhaps 10,000 miles on Continental & 18,000 on Southwest; 8,000 on AA, etc. My problem is with United. I signed-up for their Mileage program in early 1998. I have only flown them maybe 6 times. However, I made a trip to Vegas from Michigan, plus two trips to Chicago from JAX, and two trips back & forth to Munchen out of Washington, DC(IAD) in 1998 & 1999. Somewhere along the way(after some research), I found that the idiots cancelled (computer glitch?) my membership and ID #, then automatically started a new one. About 18 months after signing-up, I get a statmement with only 1,000 miles for a sign-up bonus and another 2,000 for a trip to Chicago(ORD) in the Summer of 1999. I was missing at least 12,000 miles somewhere. Then I noticed the member ship was different from my original(1998) number. They somehow deleted the old number, and their database showed no record of previous #, miles, trips. I tried to get the to at least give me credit for the miles to Germany(MUC) out of IAD, but they said they could not do it without the number off the actual paper ticket. What kind of horse-sh$& is that??? I gave them the dates, flight #‘s, and the names of the two people with whom I was travelling to Munchen that year. They still would not honor it. So, I will gladly pay $50 on NWA, Southwest, Delta, Continental from this point forward. United dropped the ball in my opinion. Has anyone else had this kind of thing happen? Oh, I have also earned over 15,000 on US Airways in the past 18 months. They have been easy to work with, and so have the folks at Delta. MK
