I have a few questions about validating my railpass. I had read that it cannot be done on the same day as when you begin to travel. Is this true? I am currently in London and will be traveling to Paris (via ferry to Calais) in a few days. Do I need to validate my pass while I’m in London before I get to the Calais train station and if so, where in London can this be done?

Thank you!

You can validate your railpass the same day you travel — you just have to have it validated at the train station BEFORE you get on your first train. It can not normally be validated by a conductor on the train, although there’s an exception when you’re arriving by train from a non-eurail country.

Thus, you can…

1. Get it validated in London. There are two places (pasted from www.eurail.com) that I know of:

Rail Europe Travel Shop, 179 Picadilly (London)
Tel: (08705) 848 848

German Rail UK Booking Centre (Surbiton)
Tel: (0870) 243 5363

2. Have it validated at the Calais station before you get board a train.
