My Danish friend says that Venice is the best and biggest party city in Europe during the summer. I will be going there in May-June after this year of college.

Any tips on places to go? Is that rumor true?

I was there in mid june of this year and it was pretty quiet! Except for the odd Contiki trippers. Don’t let this deture you Venice is a flavourful city.

Enjoy

I was there in August last year. I didn’t see much partying going on, but there was a club near my hostel that was supposed to be the biggest in Northeasteren Italy. I didn’t go and find out, cause I heard it cost a lot just to get in, let alone drink.

The thing that makes Venice not much more than a daytime tourist destination is that the locals don’t live there anymore but rather in surrounding communities. I’ve never been there at night but I imagine it’s nearly deserted.

I just came back from a solo trip and Venice was pretty deserted after 9pm. Even the wine bars (with cicchetti) were closing at 8:30pm !!!!!! Boring, boring…

I agree with all the satements above. Venice had absolutely no nightlife! It’s an amazing city with a lot to see and do during the day, but at night it can get to be a ghoast town. One thing we did when we ran out of things to do in Venice is we took the train to nearby Verona…the train tickets are really cheap and it’s a nice city. If your looking to party all night long, don’t go to Venice.

Perhaps your friend was tricking you, because it is definitly not a party town. In fact, I was there for 3 nights last summer and was actually pretty bored by the end of it. It’s a gorgeous town with lots of neat things to see, most of which can be done in an afternoon.

So if Florence the big party town? A friend of mine said he visited Italy an Florency was by far his favorite city.

We are talking about nightlife too.
