Very cheap airfare to MDE, Columbia
Wed, 03/02/2005 - 19:01
Don,
I think my question is how cheap is cheap. In my frustations finding cheap airfares to Europe this year it has been difficult. Today I had a fellow worker ask me if he thought $648 was a good deal flying to Medellin Columbia from Albquerque New Mexico. I was able to show him that this airfare did not include tax. I went to a consolador and did a quick check and got a price of $188. Knowing this was a mistake or a flightless return I soon found a flight in June Tusday to Tusday ABQ to MDE for a total price of $272. The flight was on Delta and my co worker immediately booked the flight. I checked side step when I go home and the prices where was over 900 dollars on Delta. Was this ticket sold so cheap because someone already forked out the original price on the ticked? I have run into some real cheap flights but this is dirt cheap. Does this happen freqently or did we just luck out. The consolidator did come back by E-mail with a reservation number. Any feed back would be appreciated. Tim

Who was the consolidator? You can check the reservation with the airline to ensure it was made.
The consolidator was Faremax.com. It was also showing up at Lowestfare.com. This transaction just took place a few hours ago and the reply on the E-mail said there would be a phone verification or another E-mail verification within 24 hours. I told my co worker to check with Delta since there was a resevation number given. Tim
Can also check with credit card to see if the charge went through. This could have been a mistake fare or a flash sale.
Don, Thanks so much for the information you give. The ticket has not been confirmed yet but the resevation number looks like a "E-ticket reservation number". My co worker has the print out of the price paid along with the reservation number. I believe this sale was a "flash sale". There was one return flight showing up at noon today and within an hour the $138 flight vanished (Gone). I think this is just another example of what can happen when looking for a flight. Tim
My co-worker got an E-mail saying that the transaction did not go through and his credit card was not charged. The airline had no seats. Sound like this was an error and the airlines caught it before the transaction could go through. Tim
