Is Waterproof Worth It?
Wed, 03/12/2008 - 04:22
I’m leaving for a 2 and a half month Eurotrip in 2 weeks.
Landing in London and exploring England/Scotland/Ireland for the first 2 weeks before heading to Spain and working my way back up.
I’ve gotten mixed opinions and simply can’t make up my mind as to what shoes to take. I do not want to over pack so I’m only bringing one pair of shoes (minus shower flip-flops)
Merrell makes some excellent footwear, but is it worth it to get the ones with the Gortex lining to prevent my feet from getting soaked while in Scotland/Ireland etc?
I’m not expecting to encounter much rain in Spain.. but end of March in Scotland – oh boy!
What are your opinions??

I used these Merrils and they were very comfortable and water proof I think. If not they worked well anyway. Also, they look decent in case you are hitting up any bars or clubs or nice places to eat.
Probably depends on what kind of traveller you are — mostly indoor or mostly outdoor? I guess the plus side of the waterproof ones is that they will probably keep your feet quite warm, which might be good given where you’re going.
