hello, enjoy your trip Smile
I’d like to add my own question. How cold does it really get in Western Europe (let’s pick Austria or Germany, even France) in the winter time. I’ve been looking at some weather charts and they’re saying average 5-10 degrees celsius in March or so..this seems a little high to me. I’ll be travelling over all of Western Europe in Jan-Apr and need some advice on what to bring. Can anyone point me toward some overnight temperatures?? THANKS

Maybe I am just a cold-blooded person, but no matter what the mild temperatures were when I was traveling in Italy, Paris, and Germany in March I almost always FELT cold. I think it is because of the solid marble churches and stone floors and that most Europeans don’t turn up the thermostat like we do over here. With that said, I would recommend taking along an underlayer of silk underwear—top and bottoms to possibly wear under clothes or to bed at night.

Also, and again maybe this is just me and I’m psychologically off balance, but sometimes travel in general can wear away at us and cause us to feel colder—a lot of my energy went into listening to people speak so that I could understand them, reading signs in a foreign language, and trying to catch the right, bus, plane, train—that sometimes my body just didn’t have enough energy for keep ing me U.S. warm. Hope this doesn’t sound too crazy.

not crazy, I’m Canadian and am not used to cold either (much to the dismay of my friends and family). I will surely invest in some long underwear, thanks for the info.
