what can i expect to pay???
Mon, 12/19/2005 - 17:10
I need to take a train from Paris to AMS, what can i expect to pay?
Please advice, if there are links that will allow me to pay over the internet i appreciate them.

www.ns.nl is the netherlands rail system, www.sncf.com is the french rail system. Click on "English." I don’t think (check out these links) you can buy this ticket over the internet from either the Dutch or French rail sites. However, it will be really easy to buy a ticket at the station at Schipol.
To buy on line, you’d have to buy it from one of the railpass websites —which really inflate the prices for point to point tickets and reservations. With shipping, handling and inflated ticket prices and reservation fees it will cost roughly twice as much to buy it from a railpass website.
The Thalys trains have a monopoly on trains between Paris and Benelux so tickets are fairly expensive. From the Netherlands website, it looks like you can get a one way for about 48 euros. This ticket will cost at least $82US PLUS shipping, and perhaps handling charges and a reservation fee if you buy it from one of the railpass websites. If you’re desperate to overpay to buy this ticket in advance, click on "buy a railpass" at the top of this page, then "
oint to point."
I know atleast from the SNCF end you cannot buy a ticket online if you are based in the US
